Clare County Transit is Celebrating National Transportation Week
May 17 - May 21, 2022

This is a great time to reflect on our past and envision our future.  Let us take this opportunity to see our successes, and evolve to provide the changing transportation needs of Clare County residents.  As the transportation industry is looking toward electric buses, so are we.

The Clare County Transit came to be in Harrison in 1981.  It consisted of a fleet of two buses in a lean-to.  We were founded out of concern that the elderly, low income, and mentally/physically challenged had no economical transportation to go to doctor's appointments, pick up medical prescriptions, grocery shopping and general travel.  In 1983 the Michigan Department of Transportation partnered with Clare County to support the mission of public transportation.

Clare County Transit's original Constitution and By-Laws listed our purpose, as "This Corporation shall be to provide transportation for the citizens of Clare County including elderly and disabled persons."  We stand by this today by providing safe economical transportation to passengers regardless of age or physical ability.

The Covid 19 pandemic has been challenging for everyone.  We have had to face changes and challenges we never thought would happen in our lifetime.  Clare County Transit proved to be a reliable and essential service during these unprecedented times.  We provided temporary prescription and grocery deliveries for those who were homebound.  Our service also provided transportation for those who could not stay home by taking universal precautions to ensure the safety of our passengers and our drivers.

In honor of National Transportation Week and your continued support, we would like to offer FREE RIDES for all Clare County residents on Wednesday May 19th and Friday May21st.  If you have never rode a Clare County Transit bus before, this would be a great opportunity to do so FREE!  Every day our riders will receive a gift as a token of our appreciation.

Our fleet is equipped with lifts to assist those who are unable to climb the stairs to board the bus.  Our drivers are trained in loading and securing wheel chairs and motorized scooters.  Call Clare County Transit at

989-539-1473 at least 24 hours in advance to schedule your experience.  Free rides are based on availability , first come first served.  Our friendly and courteous dispatchers are awaiting your call!
